The Framingham Cultural Council Announces the Recipients for the 2017 Rita and Bill Collins Memorial

The Framingham Cultural Council Announces the Recipients for the 2017 Rita and Bill Collins Memorial Arts Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded each year to a senior student attending a Framingham high school who intends to pursue the arts at an institute of higher education.

This year the Framingham Cultural Council awarded three Scholarships. The first prize scholarship went to Jordana Kagan and the second prize scholarship went to Andrew Caira. Both are seniors at Framingham High School and each submitted an original play along with their applications. An honorable recognition scholarship went to Kelsi MacDonald, a senior at Keefe Technical High School. She submitted a graphic design for a holiday card with her application. All three students will be furthering their education in the arts.

The scholarship is named in memory of Rita Collins, who served as Cultural Council administrator extraordinaire for many years, and Bill Collins, whose graphic design expertise benefited local government, cultural and civic groups, as well as individuals.

The members of the Framingham Cultural Council are Joel Winett, chair, Esther Powell, vice-chair, Kathryn Sucich, clerk, Katie O’Callaghan, treasurer, Philip Kaplan, Norma Kent, Judy Levine, and Lev Rozman. If you would like to be a member of the Cultural Council, submit an application to the Board of Selectmen at the Town Manager’s office.
