Transit Oriented Development

The Community and Economic Development (CED) Division is involved in a planning process with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) to re-imagine downtown Framingham as a place to live, work and play. This Transit Oriented Development (TOD) approach seeks to capitalize on the public transit assets of Downtown by introducing new mixed use and multi-family development.

For more information, visit the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) website. The goal of this TOD initiative is to bring comprehensive zoning amendments before Town Meeting in 2015.

In 2015, Framingham Town Meeting passed new zoning to encourage TOD in our downtown.  The final report can be found here.  Here is more information about the process with MAPC and the TOD efforts at Transit Oriented Development
