Sign & Façade Program

​Purpose 

The Sign & Facade Program was established to provide technical and financial assistance to Downtown businesses making external improvements. This program matches private money, up to a third of the project's cost or $10,000 for facades & two thirds or $3,000 for signs, with Federal funding through the Town's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). In doing so, the Town seeks to promote local merchants and enhance the physical appearance of the Central Business District.

Eligibility Requirements
Who is Eligible?
Anyone within the Downtown Eligible Area (Pictured below) or fronting Waverly St. between the Natick Town Line and Winter St. who either owns a commercial property or owns a business and has been granted permission for the work from his landlord.


What Improvements Qualify?
Examples of exterior improvements that are eligible under this program include:
  • Accessibility improvements, such as ramps
  • Exterior signs
  • Awnings
  • Lighting energy conservation for windows & doors
  • Painting
  • Correction of Code

Program funds may not be used for improvements to the interior of the business or to sidewalks or public walkways.For more details, see the diagram below.
