This project is intended to compliment the improvements that the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will be making in the downtown area with the Reconstruction of Route 126 (Concord Street) project.
Work in 2017 includes the installation of new granite bollards/rail fence, granite piers and pavers, granite stairs/railings, cement concrete sidewalks, brick surface areas, new period lighting, regrading, resetting of street curb and other items to complete proposed improvements
The contractor commenced construction the last week of April with the intent to complete by the end of July. Progress has been steady. However, due to the extent of tree root removal and regrading on the site, new irrigation and sod is now required for the entire lawn area; requiring a 30-day maintenance period (after installation expected later in July). Delivery of the new ornamental lighting fixtures is also delayed (at the source due to high demand) and is now scheduled to arrive no earlier than July 31st. It is anticipated that these combined events will delay completion to the end of August.
